Uniqueijo wins award fot best artisan producer of the year at the "Revista de Vinhos" awards

Revista de Vinhos Magazine distinguishes Uniqueijo, União de Cooperativas Agrícolas de Lacticínios de São Jorge, UCRL, which produce Queijo de São Jorge, as one of the best of the year 2021 which, from generation to generation, preserves and promotes the authenticity and quality of an artisan product which is unique in the world.

Uniqueijo was in the limelight at the ceremony of the 25th edition of the Revista de Vinhos Awards, where they won the prestigious award of best "Artisan Producer of the Year" with the iconic Queijo de São Jorge, a product made exclusively in São Jorge island.

Through a special online broadcast aired yesterday, February 10th, Revista de Vinhos (Wine Magazine) announced the excellence and impact of the work developed in Portugal's wine and gastronomy throughout the year and in different categories. As confirmation of this recognition, Revista de Vinhos Magazine highlights Uniqueijo as living proof of the union and resilience of the various dairy producers on the island of São Jorge who, from generation to generation, maintain their dedication and growing care in preserving and promoting the high quality of Queijo de São Jorge, a completely handmade product unique in the world and created with the best raw material that only nature (the climate, salinity, altitude, and native herbs) of São Jorge Island offers. "(...) A product with almost 600 years of evolution, maintaining the specific characteristics that the climate and vegetation of the pastures of the island determine, along with the artisanal knowledge in the way of making it", according to the Editorial Staff of Revista de Vinhos magazine. The election by the Revista de Vinhos magazine as a reference in the specialty magazines has an important impact by the support that is given to the general public, when making their choices at the time of decision and purchase.
